Licence Condition
The Licensee must investigate and prepare a written report on the water management infrastructure at the premises to identify improvements and works that can be implemented to prevent uncontrolled discharges; and emergency discharges.
The investigation and report must: a) be undertaken by an independent appropriately qualified and experienced person; b) assess existing water management infrastructure against relevant guideline design criteria (e.g. Managing Urban Stormwater: Soils and Construction – Volume 2E, Mines and quarries for erosion and sediment control structures) or other guidance; c) include but not be limited to all sediment dams, mine water dams, wastewater dams, diversion banks, pumps and water and tailings transfer pipelines; d) include but not be limited to all sumps at high risk of overflows to waters; e) include an assessment of the Licensees ability to manage water under the Protection of the Environment Operations (Hunter River Salinity Trading Scheme) Regulation 2002 under all meteorological conditions; f) include recommendations for upgrades and improvements, that includes a timeline for implementation based on highest risk, and approximate cost.
The report must be submitted to the EPA by no later than 5.00 p.m. on 30 November 2022 by email to info@epa.nsw.gov.au.
